2.75 - I had higher hopes for this one especially because I enjoy Michelle Rowen's (aka, Morgan Rhodes) adult novel. The Book Smugglers state it far more eloquently than I could, but in summary: Falling Kingdoms
is a Game of Thrones
worthy set-up with simplistic execution, underdeveloped world-building and characters thinner than the paper their printed on.
I'm not sure if these problems will continue as Ms. Rhodes delves further into the series, or if there is enough of a foundation for the necessary improvements. What I do know: I was quite grateful my library ordered a copy so I
didn't end up spending money on this book.
