Can't say I felt compelled to pick up this book for any beyond the following reasons:
1. My mom is gung ho to see the movie and after reading a ton of glowing reviews, I thought: "Hm, maybe I should see it too. But if I'm going to see a movie based on a novel, best go with my preference and read the book first."
2. The controversy surrounding both novel and film made me curious.
Unfortunately the novel hasn't
lived up to the hype, I was unable to connect to the story or characters, and I'm not surprised as there was nothing in the summary leading me to believe I'd find anything of interest. If you contemplate picking up a current read and realize you're groaning in dread? It's time to give up the ghost and call it a DNF.
