Rating this one is difficult. While I loved the main characters (Mac & Isabelle), the plotting was overwrought, at times descending to soap opera levels of melodrama. Nor could I buy Isabella's constant come closer/go away nonsense with regards to Mac's attentions. The idea that either of these passionate characters would believe they could engage in a(n albeit, Victorian era version) Friends With Benefits arrangement is laughable. Even though I found the complexity of THE MADNESS OF LORD IAN MACKENZIE far more satisfying, I'm still eagerly anticipating Cameron and Hart's stories.
